Why Install PV?
* Solar power use actually helps reduce CO2 emissions; each 1000kWh of PV generated electricity saves approximately 0.5 tonnes of CO2 emissions.
* Average household consumption in the UK ranges from 3,000 - 3,500kWh per year. 1 kWp (approximately 10 m2 or 100 ft2) could be expected to generate 750kWh of electricity per year. Thus 2kWp system may provide about half of your electricity demand.
* Solar power does not generate pollution, noise or waste; hence causes no harm to the environment.
* Solar power is based on solid state technology; hence it has no moving parts and is highly reliable with low maintenance requirements.
* Solar panels have warranties of 20 years and expected lifetimes of much longer.
* Solar panels only take 1 to 3 years to payback the energy needed to manufacture them.
* Solar panels generate electricity at the place of use and so do not need a mains network infrastructure.
* Solar power is the only renewable energy technology that is deployable on a mass scale in urban environments.
* Solar products can replace traditional building materials hence combining the functionality, architectural features and power supply.
Government Grant
The UK government on 26th March 2002 launched the PV Major Demonstration Programme. According to this program installation of PV system on residential premises qualifies for grant of up to 50% of eligible costs for householder.

SunMount
There are many different Building Integrated Photovoltaic (BIPV) products for mounting solar panels, however the majority of these products require roof penetrations or ballast requiring structural changes. The Solion SunMount product is a unique solar mounting system designed specially for flat roofs of big buildings. The SunMount is a patented product, created to solve many problems associated with PV installation on flat roofs and it has many advantages over most available products:
* The only product in the UK certified to withstand a wind speed of 112 mile per hour
* No roof penetration - eliminates possible leakage to building interior
* Lightweight - eliminates structural changes to the roof
* Aesthetics- flush modules in the mount give an integrated appearance
* Easy to install - eliminates time spent on building work and disruption
* Interlocking - ensures the complete solar array is one assembled 'block'
* Edge covering and interlocking ensures safety in high winds
* Easy to disassemble so repairs and roof maintenance can be carried out
* Mounting structure is made from recycled materials

What service does Solion provide?
Solion provides a complete service for clients installing solar power to provide electricity. Our engineers will assess your site and provide you with a quotation.
If you decide to proceed, we are able to take care of the entire process from the design of the system, submitting the application for a government grant; to supplying all the necessary equipment and the grid connected installation.
How much will the system cost?
Prices range from £6,500 - £7,000 per 1 kWp. For example with government grant of 50% for public bodies for example the cost will be £3,250 - £3,500 per 1 kWp. Systems over 1kWp will be at the lower end of this price range and systems below 2kWp will at the top end of the price range.
Warranties
All solar panels will be supplied with 20 years warranty (confirmed to you
with your quotation). All other parts of the system and installation
work carried out by Solion will be covered by 2 years
warranty.
